Muskateller 2023

2023 was the first year that we wanted to harvest Muskateller grapes not only from Mandeler Dellchen, but from our new Muskateller parcel. We planted this vineyard in 2021 as we love Muskateller and we wanted some more of it, for us and the world. Because Muskateller remains the wine we do not even nearly have enough of. It would have only been a small portion, but the suzuki fly had another plan in mind. As we grow Roter Muskateller, the skins are pink, attracting the vinegar fly. Unfortunately, we lost all grapes from our new vineyard and a lot from Mandeler Dellchen, too. We picked the grapes on a warm and sunny Sunday, destined for Kerb and a well-deserved break. But the core team was on board for a rescue mission. The motto: Pick it while it’s good. It was a devastating day. Some tears were shed. But in the end, this wine was all worth it. This is a real bomb of a Muskateller. Lychee, elderflower, a little edge – just how we like it.
