Since we first tasted them, the wines from Maria and Sepp Muster have impressed and touched us. Their philosophy not only in winemaking but in living, resonates with us: giving nature the space it needs and the grapes the time they need.

The project began in 2000 on 10ha of family land that dates back to 1727. After gaining experience abroad, the couple embraced nature as ‘the greatest teacher’ and settled in south Styria near the Slovenian border. It is here that they now farm 22ha, creating wines with great structure and minerality. The soil here is referred to as Opok: clay and silt over chalky marl subsoil.

In the Muster vineyards, one can find over 70 different plant species - a tribute to their biodynamic approach which cultivates diversity and breaks the monoculture of vines. 

'Everything happens in the vineyard and I try not to destroy it in the cellar' says Sepp Muster. The result of their patience and hard work are wonderfully balanced, fine and complex wines.
