Émilie Mutombo’s wines first piqued our interest in 2018, when her first wine E.T. was starting to create a buzz in the natural wine world. Philipp had his first taste in a wonderful restaurant called ‘El Cup Vell’ in Tarragona in 2021 and immediately found more bottles to purchase for personal consumption!

Intrigued by the wave of natural wine across Brussels where she was born and raised,  Émilie decided to leave her career in the events sector and gain experience at wineries in South Africa and France, before a chance meeting with Partida Creus at a wine fair in the Loire led her to Spain.

After tasting the Partida Creus wines and meeting Massimo and Antonella, Émilie began working at their winery, becoming involved in every aspect of the project and forming a lasting friendship. She made her first wine here in 2017 along with a fellow harvester, Tom Colman; the first vintage of E.T. and what has become, to us, her signature wine.

In 2020 Émilie found her own spot in Bonastre, part of Baix Penedès, and started making small amounts of wine from two hectares of Paradella, Sumoll and Xarel·lo ranging from 50-70 years old, along with grapes purchased from a few local producers. She has planted some Monastrell and Grenache, which will start to produce fruit in the coming years. For now, the production ranges between 5000-8000l, with the lack of rainfall having a considerable impact on yields.

Vinification methods include maceration, semi carbonic maceration and flotation, where whole-cluster grapes are suspended in direct pressed juice. Vessels are a mixture of wood and stainless steel. Quite simply, Emilie makes what she likes to drink and doesn’t hesitate to adjust her methods in order to achieve just that.

We’re delighted to be able to share these wines with you; very special bottles that hit the sweet spot between feather-light and packed with flavour. Each is finished with a beautiful label designed by Émilie’s brother, artist Frédéric Mutombo.
