Furmint is clearly our favourite white variety, and this wine is a blend of the most exciting Furmint barrels from 2022. Beautiful and healthy grapes from the limestone-covered young vineyard of Király-domb in Pécsely were harvested in 4 different rounds, the first on the 6th September and the last on the 15th of October. Last year we learnt: for Furmint, it is crucial to include different stages of ripeness to create a layered and multi-dimensional wine. The extended rainy harvest period allowed for a larger proportion of grapes from later harvest dates, slow fermentations - in some cases lasting almost a year - have created an amazingly complex and vibrant flavour profile and provided the mineral reduction we love so much. We used whole-cluster maceration in a small proportion, the vast majority of the grapes were directly pressed and settled overnight before kicking off fermentation. After one year ageing on the lees bottled unfiltered, unfined and with no addition of SO2.
