Here is what Pauline and Carl say about their Riesling:
2023 was a Riesling year. Whenever we tasted the cellar, the Riesling barrels were the shining stars. Already during the harvest, the grapes showed real potential. We picked with full ripeness, as the grapes were beautiful until the very end. There is such a richness paired with a glistening vividness and focussed character through the acidity. We feel that this wine can bring joy over years, but we are not sure if not everything will be drank by then. In this wine, two vineyard sites come together: Mandeler Schlossberg, where the grapes grow on yellow sand and have a more fruitdriven character and Mandeler Dellchen, which is red sandstone leading to very straight, focussed and mineral wines. In this year, the two sites both show an interesting brilliance in the cellar, which made us curious to see how they will age separately. We left two barrels in the cellar for a later bottling to see and show the differences. But here both characters merge in an oh so wonderful way.
