The fruit for Grand Ordinaire 2025, as always, comes from different plots on loess soil around Staufen, but the cellar work for this vintage is different. The grapes are destemmed, breaking away from the whole bunches of previous years, and aged solely in used oak barrels. Pressed after 12 days of infusion style maceration, it matures for eight months before bottling, with no added SO₂.
An easygoing light red with a whisper of tannins and lots of sour cherry, great with a young Bergkäse and the last of summer’s tomatoes. Drink chilled.
