Our entry-level white wine’s newest vintage is a 50% Rhine Riesling – 50% Furmint blend. We harvested the Riesling in two separate rounds during the first week of September. Part of it underwent a few days of skin contact, while another part was pressed directly, then fermented in both stainless-steel tanks and barrels. The Furmint arrived at the cellar in several batches from the end of August through the second week of September, fermenting and aging for a full year in various sizes of oak barrels. The two varieties complement each other perfectly. The riper Furmint gives structure and depth to the floral, fruity lightness of the Rhine Riesling. The result is a wine with a more southern feel, a new “disco, ” with deep honey-and-tea notes and 100% drinkability.
