Last year we met up with Agustin from Weingut Carl Koch and tried one of their first experiments with unfiltered and no sulfur added Riesling from 2012 called Gümo. We fell in love with this very special Riesling with some bottles having a bit of fizz. The idea was to create a Riesling similar to the 2012 experiment. Agustin was happy to fill specially for us a Riesling from the Gumben site in Oppenheim. Spontaneous fermentation, aged one year in the big wood cask and bottled unfiltered and nothing added.
An unusually juicy and lively Riesling. It has a fine, fruity nose of litchi and red apple, an atypical low acidity and a nice creaminess from not filtering.
