What Olivier, Yves and Yoshi say:
This cuvée is a total surprise! Made from a widely available grape variety in Switzerland, but only allowed in France since 2008, in the Beaujolais and Bugey regions, Gamaret is a “cross variety” of Gamay and Reichensteiner grapes.
It is known for producing heavy, big (massive flavours), and often, acidic wines … Which does not sound terribly interesting or attractive at first sight !
Our Gamaret comes from a 15 year-old vineyard which converted to organic farming 2 years ago. It is grown at an altitude of 300 metres in Chirobles, Beaujolais. This red wine has the same colour as a rosé wine. It is made through an 8-hour cycle of direct pressing.
Easy to drink, slightly tart like the English candy I used to eat as a child, it tastes fresh, delicate and fruity, with a notable lightness.
