The grapes for Morio ’22 are from the oldest plot the Lingenfelders farm, with vines over 50 years old growing on tertiary limestone. Usually a high-yield variety, the age of the vines (the oldest Morio vineyard in Germany, in fact) leads to higher concentration and lower yields.

Walking through this single variety vineyard at harvest when the grapes are ripe, the air carries the aromatic scent of the wine itself. Whole bunches are crushed by hand and underfoot, macerated in a cool spot for 3 days. Georg tasted the juice morning and night, and the first time he discovered a berry that was slightly fizzy, at the very beginning of fermentation, he pressed, allowing the juice to flow into the cellar via gravity. The wines matured in barrique for a year, with a minimal amount of sulphur added at bottling. Enjoy chilled.
